Substance Use Disorders

Substance use disorder (SUD) is a mental health condition in which a person has a problematic pattern of substance use that causes distress and/or impairs their life. Rural communities bear a disproportionate burden of substance use epidemics and their consequences that contribute to greater morbidity and lower life expectancy compared with people living in more urban areas.
